Tuesday, all six Little Illini Conference girls tennis teams were on the courts, and it was the first time league schools faced each other in a dual setting. Casey-Westfield defeated last year’s tournament champion, Olney, 7-2, while Robinson won the last two doubles matches to edge past Newton, 5-4.

In addition, Paris lost to a Danville squad which has finished in the top 10 at state four years in a row, by a 7-2 score. Also, Mt. Carmel defeated Carmi in a dual, 8-1.

Robinson finished fifth and Casey-Westfield eighth at a major early-season tournament held on Saturday in Effingham. Host St. Anthony won the title with 19 points, followed by Mahomet-Seymour (14 points), and Father McGivney (13). Maroa-Forsyth finished with 12 points, good for fourth, just ahead of the Maroons.
