(PARIS ) — Mt. Carmel clinched at least a tie for the Little Illini Conference volleyball championship with a straight-set win over Paris on Thursday night, bringing to an end one of the busiest weeks of the conference season.
The Lady Aces, with their 2-0 win, finished their league season with a 6-1 record. When the week began, they were in second-place behind defending champion Newton (3-0 in LIC games to that point). But on Tuesday, Mt. Carmel knocked off the Eagles to even things up on the loss side. Newton, which bounced back to defeat Marshall on Thursday, now stands 4-1 in conference play. They have LIC games left against Olney (at home on Oct. 16) and Paris (there on Oct. 23) – games they must win to share the crown with Mt. Carmel.
