(BLOOMINGTON) — The Illinois High School Association has released its’ Sectional team assignments for the 2026 state softball tournament series.

Regional tournament play begins on May 18, with Sectional tournament semifinals scheduled for May 26-27. The Class 1A and 2A Super-Sectionals will both be hosted by Southern Illinois University in Carbondale on June 1.

The IHSA State Finals will be held at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria from June 4-6.

There are no Little Illini Conference schools hosting Regional tournaments this year. However, Casey-Westfield will host a Class 1A Sectional tournament.

Four LIC teams – Marshall, Newton, Paris and Robinson – are all assigned to the Monticello Class 2A Sectional, with Regional stops at either Effingham St. Anthony or Teutopolis. Mt. Carmel has been grouped with the 2A Sectional field at Pinckneyville, while Olney’s  2A Sectional host is yet to be determined.

In Class 1A, Casey-Westfield will host a Sectional, though the Lady Warriors first must visit either Altamont or Cumberland for Regional tournament play.  Lawrenceville is in the same Sectional grouping, but would first play a Regional at either Edwards County or South Central.

Last year, Casey-Westfield finished third at the state tournament, completing a 35-4 season.

According to the IHSA, softball seeds will be posted about 4 p.m on Tuesday, May 5. Tournament pairings will be released about 4 p.m. on the following day, Wednesday, May 6.

Teams: Albion (Edwards County), Bridgeport (Red Hill), Cisne, Dieterich, Farina (South Central), Grayville, Hutsonville,  Lawrenceville, Louisville (North Clay), Oblong, Wayne City.

Pinckneyville Sectional
