Olney snapped Paris’ two-year tennis dual winning streak against Little Illini Conference opponents with a 5-4 victory on Monday in Paris. Paris had won the last 10 straight LIC duals dating back to 2024.
Paris coach Stefan Aydt said it “was a tough loss, but I’m still proud of all our girls’ effort, especially our seniors.”
One of the highlight attractions came at No. 1 singles, a rematch of last year’s LIC tournament championship between Paedyn Keys of Paris and Olney’s Ezha Biyok, won again by Keys, 6-5, 6-2. Olney prevailed in the end though by winning all three doubles matches, after trailing 4-2 after singles play.
Keys is the No. 18-ranked singles player in Class 1A, according to Tennis Reporting, just one spot below Olivia Sornberger of Newton.
