The Little Illini Conference shined at last weekend’s IHSA Regional cross country meets.
On the boys side, five LIC teams advanced to this week’s Sectional meets. And, Olney’s Quaid Berger, LIC champion and one of the state’s top runners, won the individual title at the 2A meet the Tigers hosted.
LIC girls fared even better. Amazingly enough, all six of the league’s full teams are moving on to the Sectional, one as a Regional champion. Marshall and Newton finished 1-2 in the standings at Cumberland.
In Class 1A, the top six teams and top 10 individuals not a part of advancing teams will qualify for the state meet on Nov. 8 at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Class 2A takes the top seven teams and 10 individuals.
Congratulations to all the teams and individuals for making the Sectional field. Good luck this weekend. Go LIC!
