(BLOOMINGTON) — The Illinois High School Association has released its’ Sectional team assignments for the 2026 boys and girls state basketball tournament series.

LIC schools will host a total of one Sectional and four Sub-sectional (Regional) tournaments. Olney will host the Sectional, in the Class 2A girls tournament series. One school will host two Regionals: Casey-Westfield in both the Class 1A boys and girls series. Other regional hosts are: Robinson in Class 2A boys, and Mt. Carmel for Class 2A girls.

The IHSA boys state tournament begins with Regional play from Feb. 23-27 at 32 sites around the state. Sectional play will be held from March 3-6 at eight sites, with four Super-Sectionals to be played on March 9. The four-class state championship weekend will be held from March 12-14 at State Farm Center on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The girls state tournament series precedes the boys event, beginning with Regional play from Feb. 16-20. Sectionals will be played from Feb.  24-26, followed by Super Sectionals on March 2. The state tournament will be played at CEFCU Arena on the campus of Illinois State University campus in Normal fromM arch 5-7.

This year, a total of 719 schools will take part in the boys state series. There are 653 teams entered in the girls series.
