(OLNEY) — Lawrenceville captured its’ third straight Little Illini Conference wrestling championship on Saturday in Olney.

The Indians won the six-team meet with a total of 177.5 points, some 16 points better than runnerup Robinson (161.5). The host Tigers took third with 131 points, followed by Mt. Carmel (114), Paris (91.5), and Marshall (27).

Marshall was making its first-ever appearance in the LIC meet, after resuming the sport following a 60-year hiatus.

Lawrenceville wrestlers led the way at the top of the podium, with eight titles out of the 14 weight classes up for grabs. Olney was next with three winners, followed by Robinson (2) and Paris (1).

Joshua Lamour of Paris remained undefeated for the season at 20-0, claiming the title at 165 pounds with a victory over Dakota Woods of Mt. Carmel. Other top individual performers included: Broady Kelly of Robinson(34-2), who defeated Emmitt Cooley of Mt. Carmel in the finals at 138, and Zander Schrader of Olney (23-3), who won the 215 pound weight class with a win over Tucker Hill of Robinson.

Lawrenceville has won all three team titles in the short history of the event.

The IHSA state tournament series is just around the corner. All six LIC teams will be together at the Class 1A Regional meet at Robinson, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31.
