Mt. Carmel has moved into first place in the Little Illini Conference girls basketball race. The Lady Aces improved to 3-0 in LIC games with a 48-41 victory over Robinson on Monday night.
The Lady Aces had to overcome early deficits in the game before finally regrouping in the second half to overcome the Maroons. Maycee Randall led the way with 26 points as Mt. Carmel won its’ ninth straight game after an 0-3 start to move to 9-3 on the season. Robinson fell to 1-3 in the conference and 3-7 overall.
In non-conference action on Monday, it was:

Salem 42, Newton 39
Robinson has since bounced back in a big way, with a decisive 47-26 win over an 8-3 Terre Haute South Vigo team at home on Tuesday night. Also on Tuesday, Olney brought Carmi’s 10-0 start to a halt with an impressive 54-49 non-conference victory.
There are still three undefeated teams in league games. In addition to Mt. Carmel, Paris is 2-0 (8-1 overall), with Olney standing at 1-0 (5-3 overall). Monday’s LIC game was the last one scheduled before Christmas.
