Week 6 recap: Olney, Casey-Westfield rally to stay undefeated

The Little Illini Conference still has two undefeated football teams. But to get  to 6-o, both Casey-Westfield and Olney had to overcome deficits. Folks in Clark County will be talking about Casey-Westfield’s Houdini act for a long time. Olney, meanwhile, ran into a team that wouldn’t let them have the ball, yet they managed a win to stay perfect. Those are Week 6 highlights. Here’s the full recap:

Marshall led 34-18 after a 50-yard TD pass from Luke Brodie to Kaiden Sanders with 9:36 remaining in the third quarter but the Warriors picked up two scores (a Nick Fouty TD catch and a finger-tip TD catch by Daryn Hupp) and two 2-point conversions to tie things up at 34-all with 8:36 left in the game. Casey-Westfield got the ball right back by springing an onside kick on the Lions. Kellen Sullivan then put the Warriors ahead for good with a 31-yard TD run. The Warriors then blocked a punt on Marshall’s ensuing possession, setting up a short-porch TD drive that QB Nolan Clement finished with an eight-yard TD run to clinch a wild Homecoming win.

Lawrenceville jumped to a 10-0 lead. but Robinson scored twice in the final three minutes of the second quarter to grab a 13-10 lead at the break, and go on from there to a 39-19 LIC win. Paris RB Carter Crippes ran for 183 yards and two touchdowns to lead the way on the ground. Rogers rushed for 161 yards and two scores. The Eagles soared on the arm of quarterback Hayden Mulvey.
